House Rules Chairman Rep. Destin Hall recently met with key statewide and regional conservation organizations to learn more about several recent conservation success stories, as well as discuss the need for additional state investments in public lands heading into the Carolina General Assembly’s 2021 legislative session.
Leaders from the Blue Ridge Conservancy, Foothills Conservancy, The Nature Conservancy, and the Conservation Fund joined Rep. Hall at the Wilson Creek Visitor Center to review several projects recently funded through the North Carolina Land and Water Fund. The efforts to preserve Wilson Creek for the benefit of the residents of Caldwell County, anglers, paddlers, campers, hikers and visitors has been strongly supported by Rep. Hall.
Additionally, the group discussed the substantial economic impacts associated with natural resource conservation in western North Carolina and expanding access to outdoor recreation opportunities.
“From the mountains to the sea, North Carolina offers some of the most beautiful land in the entire country. I’m committed to ensuring responsible stewardship of our public lands so that we can retain all it has to offer for future generations,” said Rep. Hall.
