Representative Hall to Serve as Chairman of the Rules and Redistricting Committees

LENOIR, N.C. – Representative Destin Hall was appointed by Speaker Tim Moore (R- Cleveland) in January to serve as Chairman of the Committee on Rules, Calendar and Operations of the House, and the House Committee on Redistricting.

“The General Assembly is fortunate to have Rep. Hall’s strong leadership and legal acumen at the helm of our House Rules and Redistricting committees this session,” Speaker Moore said. “I have the highest confidence that Rep. Hall will continue to build a successful record of results and fulfill his immense potential in these roles as he serves the people of Caldwell County for the benefit of all North Carolinians.”

The House Rules Chairman assigns legislation to committees, schedules bills for floor action, and directs the inner workings of House operations. All legislation must pass through the House Rules Committee before it is brought to the floor for a vote.

With the completion of the nationwide census in 2020, the legislature will redraw district maps to account for population shifts across the state. The state House, state Senate, and Congressional districts are all subject to redrawing. As Chairman of the House Committee on Redistricting, Rep. Hall will be a leader of this effort in the General Assembly.

“It is truly an honor to serve as the Chairman of both the House Rules and Redistricting Committees, and I am grateful to Speaker Moore for entrusting me with these roles to serve the people of Caldwell County for a better North Carolina,” said Rep. Hall.
